The vandalism occurred yesterday in the 9800 block of Mahogany Drive in Gaithersburg. Investigators are releasing surveillance of the male suspect vandalizing the cruiser and are asking for the public’s help to identify him. On Wednesday, June 6, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received a call from someone who reported that he/she was recording a suspect who was standing on the hood of an unoccupied Montgomery County Police vehicle and was using an object to break through the front windshield of the car. The suspect fled prior to officers arriving to the area. The investigation by officers determined that the suspect used a rock to break the front windshield of the patrol vehicle. The suspect then removed the rear-view mirror from the interior of the car and put it on the roof of the vehicle before fleeing.
